Salish Point Festival of the Lake
The Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes and the Tribes/City of Polson Salish Point Committee invites the public to attend Salish Point Festival of the Lake, a new recreational event celebrating Flathead Lake and the continued development of public access on Flathead Lake at Salish Point Park , in Polson.
Recreational access areas on Flathead Lake such as the Salish Point Park Project are critical to meeting the continuing and increasing water based recreation demand. The SPP will have it all, a proposed recreational park that provides a large swim beach and swim platforms, low to high water boat ramp access and slips, large deep water fishing piers, picnic facilities, information kiosks, handicapped facilities and walking trails. Although a great deal of work has been done in the past by the Tribes, the City of Polson and the Tribes are currently working at the site and more improvements need to be completed to finish the Salish Point Park project.
We have scheduled the following activities and sights for visitors to enjoy during the event at Salish Point:
*a lake trout fish fry lunch (discounted price)
*art and craft vendors and *commercial booths
*paddle boat, canoe, raft, kayak competitions between the fishing piers
*silent auctions and door prizes
*live music by the Son’s of Beaches
*Flathead Lake information exhibits
*Salish Point Park design exhibit
