 The National Bison Range is administered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service as part of the National Wildlife Refuge System.  It was established in 1908 and is one fo the oldest Wildlife Refuges in the nation.  VISITOR CENTER: The best place to start your visit.  WILDLIFE VIEWING:  Prairie Drive/West Loop:  a 5-mile gravel road that travels through the flats.  RED SLEEP MOUNTAIN DRIVE:  a 19-mile, one-way gravel road which gains 2,000 feet.  WINTER DRIVE:  a 10-mile gravel road traveling through the flats and along Mission Creek.  WALKING TRAILS:  Hiking is limited on the Range to a few short walking trails.  DAY USE & PICNIC AREA:  The Range has a day use and picnic area near Mission Creek.

 The Polson Flathead Historical Museum covers local history of the Flathead Reservation.  Located at 708 Main Street in Polson, the museum is open from Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Popular with children are the new hands-on Kids' Korner with activities, books and dress-up, the largest Model Railroad in NW Montana and the Lewis & Clark Expedition Marionettes made by Blanche Harding.  Our Native American collection includes a tepee, historical objects and photos.  Learn about life in 1910 in the Homesteaders' Kitchen, Bedroom and Schoolroom exhibits.  We have trophies and photos since 1917 of Polson High School grads, fire engines,buggies and wagons, lots of photos of early boating on Flathead Lake and Regatta trophies, Edison phonographs plus various pianos and organs and Calamity Jane's saddle.  Monday-Saturday 10-5, Sundays 12-3, Kid and Dog Friendly $3.00 Adults, $2.50 Seniors, Children under 12 Free.  Group and School Tours are available upon request.

 Built in 1938, the city owned John Dowdall Theatre has been renovated and is maintained by the non-profit organization, Mission Valley Friends of the Arts (MVFA).   Under a twenty year lease with the city of Polson, the MVFA has an agreement with the Port Polson Players, to serve as caretakers for the facility.  Neal and Karen Lewing, managing and artistic directors for the Players, also serve as secretarial and administrative directors for the MVFA.  All fund raising drives for MVFA, follow up, publicity, building maintenance, contracted renovation, grant assistance, accountability and facilitation are conducted by the Lewings, on behalf  of "The Friends".  MVFA doesn't pay them for these services.  They trade use of the facility to produce theatre.

 Kerr Dam is a three-unit hydroelectric plant on the Flathead River about five miles southwest of Polson and the natural outlet of Flathead Lake. The units have a total generating capacity of 196 megawatts, which can satify the average energy needs of about 150,00 homes and businesses.
